               Placenta Services

Doulaville now offers several placenta services including placenta encapsulation (raw or TCM), placenta tinctures and placenta prints.

Placenta Encapsulation

Placenta Encapsulation is believed to alleviate symptoms of postpartum depression and what is commonly known as "Baby Blues".  It is also believed to help with milk supply and later on, menopause.  It's natural, made perfectly for you by your own body, contains your own natural hormones and can be processes as follows:
  • Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) – In this method, your placenta will be steamed with fresh ginger and lemon before dehydrating. This is to enhance its warming properties and help your body use the beneficial properties of the placenta in a deeper way. This method also kills bacteria and reduces risk of spoilage. However, there is concern about the degradation of the hormones when cooking the placenta. Additional herbs or foods may be used in the steaming process.
  • Raw Dehydrated Method – This method involves slicing the placenta while fresh and raw and dehydrating it immediately. Clients who choose this method consistently report increased energy as one of the benefits. It is widely held that the hormones are more likely to be bio-available when the placenta is processed raw.

Placenta Tinctures

  • Placenta Tinctures – This method of preserving the placenta's valuable hormones in distilled vodka over several weeks time, strained and ingested usually by drops directly on the tongue or into a glass of water, is said to benefit mothers and babies during times of stress and transition.

Placenta Print Art

  • Placenta Prints are made by gently pressing the placenta on quality art paper in its whole form, before any processing has been done. These prints are used as a cherished keepsake and sometimes framed and placed in baby's room. Using the placenta's own blood as "paint" preserves the placenta's beneficial elements and therefore can then be processed for encapsulation and/or tincture.
